Interstellar Federation
The evolved crustacean race known as the Keysx are the co-founders of the Galactic Patrol. With their long time allies, the Brak-Tue, the Keysx of the Interstellar Federation have held the forces of Darkness at bay for eons. They Keysx have evolved into three castes. The first, the Warrior caste, averages 4 to 4.7 meters high, and masses between 400 to 500 kilos. The Warrior caste are plated by heavy segmented shell armor, and have two heavy razor sharp lobster-like claws. Mounted below these are a pair of smaller claws that have evolved into sensitive tool wielding members. Unlike many other shell plated species, the Keysx warrior is anything but slow. A complex internal system of highly dense muscles, combined with flexible segmented armor, powered by a very high energy metabolic rate makes the Keysx warrior caste one of the most feared of the Galaxy's warriors. The second Keysx caste are known as drones. Drones are normally 1.5 to 1.75 meters high and average 100 to 125 kilos. Drones conduct the majority of the routine work required by the Federation. The last caste is the Imperial. Imperials are the leaders of mega city states within the Federation, a Keysx mega city can cover most of a planet's surface. The Keysx Imperials combine the best aspects of the warrior caste with a very high creative intelligence. Where the Warrior caste has specialized in all aspects of warfare, the Imperial caste encompasses all aspects of science, technology, and politics. There are sub-classes of Imperials, from the Grand Imperial who rules an entire planet, down to the Baron class who rules a single citadel. The Keysx are the more moderate members of the Galactic Patrol, and unlike the fanatical Brak-Tue and the even more fanatical Genar, have been known to show mercy to defeated enemies and prefer to attempt a negotiated settlement of a problem before resorting to force. But those who have made the mistake of equating the reluctance of the Keysx to act in the same manner as the Brak-Tue/Genar (shoot first and ask questions later, if at all...) with weakness have in many cases not lived long enough to regret their mistakes. While the Interstellar Federation of itself would be classified a Gamma class security risk, its long and close ties with the Brak-Tue would draw the Keysx into any war waged by the Brak-Tue. Thus, the Interstellar Federation must be classified as a Beta+ security risk to the Realm of Stars.
