KJC Games Quest
#17
Just thought others might like to see some battle reports mainly from Quest Unlimited G20 during the last week.

The Knights and Footmen of Red Mysts (1707) day began simply enough with the clearing of the Tomb of Remorse. Monster filled but without the risk of Giants. Then just as they were preparing to journey on to a slightly deeper dungeon there was news from the far northeast of a trio of Titans bashing upon Linthwaite’s City (6) very walls! Knowing only too well how destructive and dangerous these demigod giants can be the Goddess Novala herself aided our flight to the beleaguered settlement with a Transport miracle. And so they prepared for an epic battle...

As we moved along, we met three Giants(5676). (Blurb given below).
As we got nearer to them, we took a careful look at them. There were three Giants. (
3 Titans). They did not appear to be injured.
We had the element of surprise.
We shouted at them, "Death and Glory!".
Bloodbait's long bow sang, the arrow hitting the looming Titan. It was stunned by
the impact. The gargantuan Titan first struck high then swung upwards, cutting
Bloodbait. He watched as blood trickled from the cut. Hawkeye released the arrow, it
hurtled through the air striking the massive Titan. It was staggered by the point's
impact. Gripping firmly its battle axe, the looming Titan swung, striking Flint
Holyhelm in the arm.
Varris Holyhart cast miracle Healing at Bloodbait. The looming Titan hammered its
massive hooves into Krux Bloodshield in the stomach. The gargantuan Titan grinned
maniacally, striking Hawkeye. He muttered, "Give a child an axe and they think
they're a warrior". The massive Titan grinned maniacally, striking Granite Wall. He
cried, "I'll get you, you bastard".
Willow Spellweaver cast spell Choking Gas.
Lightning flashed and thunder boomed as magic filled the air.
Mhug Nightcaller cast spell Confusion II. At this point there was no turning back.
Violently thrusting his spear, Granite Wall skewered the gargantuan Titan, but
having little effect. The gargantuan Titan's battle axe sliced Willow Spellweaver in
the arm. The looming Titan's battle axe sliced Dour Shieldwall. He laughed, "You hit
like a kobold". Krux Bloodshield struck the massive Titan, causing a minor wound.
Readying for battle its axe, the massive Titan grinned maniacally, striking Slate
Blokhelm. He sought to stem the flow of bright blood.
Varris Holyhart cast miracle Healing at all the party. The massive Titan first
struck high then swung upwards, cutting Bloodbait to the sound of crunching bone.
Violently thrusting his spear, Granite Wall stabbed, hitting the gargantuan Titan.
It was lightly hurt. Always seeking an opening for his great sword, Vex Wyrmblade
hammered it, smashing the looming Titan. It reeled backwards. The leathery creature
staggered under the impact of the blade. The blow bit deep into the arm of the
looming Titan striking it from its body. The creature died. "By the Gods, I bloody
well killed it".
'You're just the first to die today,' was taunted as the first enemy was wasted.
The clash of arms was deafening. Kal Thornblade's great sword hit the massive
Titan. It watched the weapon rend flesh and bone. Rock Wall stabbed the massive
Titan, turning flesh into bloody rags. The rough skin was skewered, the point bit
deeply impaling the leg of the massive Titan. The monster staggered under the impact
of the blow, the leg now useless. The dying beast fell to earth tearing great rents
in the ground.
The deaths of the enemy fired the heroes' blood.
Varris Holyhart cast miracle Healing at all the party. Hefting its battle axe,
the gargantuan Titan smashed through an ineffective defence, striking Bloodbait. He
watched the axe rend flesh and bone. Steel Vaulthart feinted a few times then struck
the gargantuan Titan, the point finding flesh. Bloodbait retreated. Vex Wyrmblade
hammered it, smashing the gargantuan Titan. It spat teeth and blood. Violently
thrusting his spear, Dour Shieldwall skewered the gargantuan Titan, severing major
veins. The fleshy beast's hand was severed from its arm. Suddenly the gargantuan
Titan reeled back in agony as the claw fell to the ground. The dying beast fell to
earth tearing great rents in the ground.
The enemy was dead. We got 29402 gold from the lair of the dead Giants. We acquired items that the Giants left behind. [living ring mail+7, soul stealing halberd+8, life stealing halberd+6, rune etched club+4, demon bound short spear+7 and soul shrouding chain mail+8 of protection from Undead]. TITAN
Demi-god, or the favoured of the gods, these beings are invested with power far beyond mortal reckoning. With just a glance, they are more than capable of turning someone to ashes. They are always armed with mystical weapons and armour that turn all but the most enchanted blades. They will kill any and all that anger them. As they are immortal, they take little interest in revenge and after an encounter will never pursue their opponents.

During our travels, we met three Giants (6820). (Blurb given below).

When we got nearer to them, we took a careful look at them. There were three Giants.
(3 Cyclops). They did not appear to be injured.
We had the element of surprise.
We screamed out, "Death and Glory!".
Kal Thornblade the fighter charged forwards with grim intent. Hawkeye released
the arrow, it hurtled through the air striking the massive Cyclops, but having
little effect. Bloodbait's long bow sang, the arrow striking the gargantuan Cyclops.
It grimaced with the pain. Gripping firmly its axe, the evil Cyclops hacked
Bloodbait. He laughed, "You hit like a kobold". The gargantuan Cyclops's battle axe
sliced Dour Shieldwall, leaving an angry bruise.
Flint Holyhelm cast miracle Healing at Bloodbait. The evil Cyclops's axe struck
Granite Wall. He grasped the cut.
Varris Holyhart cast miracle Healing at all the party. The massive Cyclops first
struck high then swung upwards, cutting Kal Thornblade. He cried, "I'll get you, you
bastard".
Willow Spellweaver cast spell Choking Gas.
Mages summoned energies beyond the comprehension as the air shimmered.
Mhug Nightcaller cast spell Confusion II. Soon it would be more than just oaths
that were traded.
Steel Vaulthart stabbed the evil Cyclops. It grimaced with the pain. Dour
Shieldwall feinted a few times then struck the gargantuan Cyclops. It was nearly
gutted. Granite Wall's spear stabbed the gargantuan Cyclops. It was nearly gutted.
Rock Wall skewered the gargantuan Cyclops. It reeled backwards. The fleshy arm of
the gargantuan Cyclops was viciously punctured and hung useless. Even after it was
killed relentless blows hacked the corpse into pieces.
The chanting of battle songs crescendoed as the first enemy was slain.
Bloodbait's helmet was split by the evil Cyclops's hooves.
Flint Holyhelm cast miracle Healing at all the party. Shoving his spear, Granite
Wall thrust, striking the massive Cyclops, turning flesh into bloody rags. Steel
Vaulthart's spear was forced through ineffective defence, striking the evil Cyclops.
It screamed in agony, blood welling from the vicious wound. The massive Cyclops
kicked out at Drom Greenblade. Drom Greenblade grasped the cut. Kal Thornblade swept
a wicked blow, bashing the evil Cyclops to the sound of crunching bone. Rock Wall's
spear stabbed the massive Cyclops, in a spray of blood. The leathery head was
impaled, from the way the massive Cyclops hung its head, it was obviously a mortal
blow. The dying beast fell to earth tearing great rents in the ground.
With another death, the heroes pressed their momentary advantage.
Krux Bloodshield forced through an ineffective defence, striking the evil Cyclops.
It reeled backwards. Shoving his spear, Slate Blokhelm skewered the evil Cyclops,
passing nearly through the body. The fleshy arm of the evil Cyclops was viciously
punctured and hung useless. The creature collapsed and died, shaking the earth with
its fall.

CYCLOPS
The cyclops is closely related to the giants but is easily recognizable by the single
large eye in the centre of its forehead. The lack of depth perception due to just one eye
makes the cyclops a clumsy creature but it makes up to some extent with raw power and
meanness. They are not very intelligent and usually fight with a large wooden or stone
 club.

This battles from G33 with my Group Blood Brothers (1590) battling a large force of tough Dragons. Setup here is mainly Dwarven Berserkers in cloth armour wielding warhammers.

During our journey, we came across four Dragons(3930). (Blurb given below).

As we got nearer to them, we counted their numbers. There were four Dragons. (1
Elder Dragon and 3 Fire Dragons). They did not appear to be injured.
We screamed out, "In the name of almighty Sundonak, we will crush you to dust
and ashes!".
Faith-mad Bill cast miracle Healing at Ovik Grymaxe. Grizzle Bloodbane
struck, the chains wrapping and striking Ruby the Fire Dragon. It fought
through the pain. As the heroes clashed with the enemy, the presence of death
was all too near.
Variz Silverhammer's warhammer hammered the deep red Fire Dragon. It took
the blow but grunted with pain. Zarlak Lifehammer's warhammer hammered
downwards, bashing the crimson scaled Fire Dragon. It gasped with pain. Vortex
Hammerhelm swept aside all defence, striking the titanic Elder Dragon's
polished scales. Nekro Skullhammer struck the titanic Elder Dragon. It was
thumped good and proper. The titanic Elder Dragon teeth closed shut on Vortex
Hammerhelm, slicing the arm from shoulder to elbow. Vartuse Ironhammer's
warhammer hammered the crimson scaled Fire Dragon but only managing to loosen a
few scales.
The clash of arms was deafening. The titanic Elder Dragon thrust razor sharp
claws into Zarlak Lifehammer. Zarlak Lifehammer was lightly hurt. The titanic
Elder Dragon hammered its prodigious tail into Nekro Skullhammer, making angry
welts. Ovik Grymaxe attacked, not making contact with the deep red Fire
Dragon's leg. The titanic Elder Dragon teeth closed shut on Justin in the arm.
Muldoon Nighthammer grinned maniacally, striking Ruby the Fire Dragon, driving
scales and plates into flesh. Muldoon Nighthammer hammered Ruby the Fire Dragon,
in a spray of blood and shattering bone. The chitinous beast's wing was broken
in several places. Dragging itself backwards Ruby the Fire Dragon retreated in
agony dragging the wing behind it. Even after it was killed relentless blows
hacked the corpse into pieces.
'You're just the first to die today,' was taunted as the first enemy was
wasted.
Swinging overhead his warhammer, Variz Silverhammer first feinted high, then
hammered the deep red Fire Dragon, driving scales and plates into flesh. Crying
"For glory and death!" while swinging his warhammer, Vartuse Ironhammer smashed
the crimson scaled Fire Dragon. It staggered under the blow obviously badly
shaken by the attack. 'Death to all,' was chanted as a second one was killed.
Wounds were given and received. The titanic Elder Dragon's attack raked
Thoric Stormhammer, making merely a scratch. "You know that's gotta hurt!"
Pools of blood mixed with vomit and spilt entrails of the fallen enemy made
the footing hard for the heroes, but still they fought on.
Variz Silverhammer smashed the titanic Elder Dragon. It was nearly beaten to
a bloody pulp. Nekro Skullhammer hammered downwards, bashing the titanic Elder
Dragon, chipping bones and tearing flesh. Wielding his dwarven lord's great axe,
Ovik Grymaxe grinned maniacally, striking the titanic Elder Dragon. It sought
to stem the flow of bright blood. The armour clad leg of the titanic Elder
Dragon was lopped off and lay twitching on the ground. The dying beast fell to
earth tearing great rents in the ground.
The enemy was dead. We got 20811 gold from the lair of the dead Dragons. We
acquired items that the Dragons left behind. [life stealing war flail+6,
rune etched short bow+4, greater rune etched heavy crossbow+5,
living short bow+7 of Goblin slaying and king's helmet+8]. We
earned 2058 experience points.

DRAGON (808)
One of the oldest races on Kharne and certainly the deadliest but fortunately now
very rare. Dragons are solitary creatures and avoid even their own kind (one of the
reasons for the current low population). To call a dragon a large winged lizard is an
insult of the worst kind but it is roughly what they look like. They are highly
intelligent but arrogant, cruel, selfish, and devious. Their weaponry is impressive. They
have razor sharp claws and teeth, and a tail which could stun an elephant. They have an
incredible aura of age and power which can panic their foes in combat. Their long lives
have made them cautious and at the first sign of a battle going against them they will
usually fly away to fight another day.

WHELP
The dragon whelp are small and vicious, hatching with the ability to speak and a cold
cunning that would shame the most heartless of thieves. It is a mistake to believe that
because this creature is only a fraction of an adult's size it is harmless. Its teeth are
still capable of tearing a limb from its socket and its claws will rent even magical
armour. Beware the cute little lizard with smoke escaping from its nostrils.

FIRE DRAGON
Capable of melting even stone, these creatures are truly terrifying. Armour and
weapons become molten, their wielders nothing more than a pile of ashes. That the world
has not been overrun by these monsters is only on account of their need to sleep for
centuries at a time, refilling themselves with the infernos of destruction. Once awakened
from this slumber, they will cause desolation to everything within hundreds of miles. To
wake one before it can be killed is to die.

ELDER DRAGON
The ancient and powerful Dragons are a terrifying sight to behold. They are even
bigger and stronger than their lesser cousins, and thankfully they are rare, even by
Dragon standards. They have recently returned to the world of Kharne, leading many to fear
for the future of civilisation, since the last time they were recorded was over 3000 years
ago, before civilisation as we know it began.
